It's been such a busy week....I would guess, one of the busiest we have known around here. Oh my, there must be lots of needles clicking away out there! In my quiet moments, I am continuing to have fun with my festive crafting...I've been enjoying my sewing so much in recent weeks.....even more so, as I often just don't have the time I would like for one of my all time favourite crafts (a New Year resolution...definitely to make more time!) Anyway friends, here are a few more of my makes for Christmas 2011!...
Almost everything has come from my craft cupboard...oddments of fabric which were just too lovely not to be used....plus felt, vintage buttons and then the yarn oddments which were used for my twisted cords. The Scottie dog gift bags were made with left-overs of my lovely natural ticking fabric and the little dog motifs were machine embroidered on some unbleached calico. I was so pleased to finally find use for the pretty floral fabric pieces too, which I used for the lining. These are going to be filled with handmade pretties for my girls, some from my lovely bloggy friends (thank you again lovelies...you know who you are!) but I have to keep the contents top secret of course as the recipients of these gifts may just pass by here over the next few days!
The little wooden hearts were stored away in one of my craft drawers and had long since been forgotten. I bought them several years ago and am so happy to say that I have finally got around to using them! They have been painted using little tester pots of some favourite colours bought in a sale a few months ago and I think I will make a festive garland with them for the kitchen using the red and white baker's twine.
I loved making the pretty felt hearts which were both machine and hand embroidered and then finished off with twisted cord hangers made from my left over cotton 4 ply yarn oddments. I like to stick to traditional colours for our living and dining rooms, but I find the colours used here are so fresh and pretty for the bedrooms and kitchen.
I still have to decorate my Christmas cake and after lots of searching, I finally found some lovely small silver reindeers to decorate (pics later!) Hopefully, I will do this in the next few days and finish it off by making a pretty cake band using patchwork fabrics and ribbon (well, at least that's the plan!)
There will be just a little more baking....most importantly mince pies...which always go down well in our house...and then, after some final present wrapping, it will be time to put the feet up and enjoy a few days with family and friends until the New Year is upon us....when I will be knitting and photographing my new patterns...(so exciting ...I just can't wait!).... Hopefully, we will have some brighter days too...fingers crossed!
♥ Thank you for calling by friends when I know you must have so many things to do...it really is appreciated so much!...I hope you can look forward to having a wonderful time with your loved ones, enjoying all the things you really most love to do.... ♥
