I actually started designing this pattern some time ago
and originally it was worked 'in the round' (perfect for an elephant)
and originally it was worked 'in the round' (perfect for an elephant)
...but when I had almost finished...
I decided to also create it 'back and forth' on 2 single pointed needles
so that everyone could make their elephants at the same time
whichever knitting method is preferred
so that everyone could make their elephants at the same time
whichever knitting method is preferred
It was a bit of a challenge
to be working on both methods at the same time
(I usually publish one version then work on the alternative method afterwards)

but I'm very happy now both are complete that the pattern will be
available for everyone

available for everyone

All details about each version are included in the individual listings
but if you prefer to knit 'in the round' on dpns you will need 'Method 1'
...and if you like to work on 2 single pointed needles
'back and forth' you will prefer 'Method 2'

There are lots of step by step instructions in the pattern
and I took all the photographs along the way as I worked
(quite a lot!)
(quite a lot!)
Also, there are useful links to techniques and materials
and yarn suggestions of varying prices
I didn't realise it would be so much fun to knit elephants...
...I think it's the trunk that really does it for me...
(did I mention too that Ela never forgets a face?)
